Help with Enhanced Features

There are several features of the eMedicine texts which are not evident at first glance. We will be documenting these enhancements on this help page so come back often. We are planning to add several new features in the month of January. The first of these is LookItMedä which allows you to mouse over any words you do not understand to receive an immediate definition as well as related links.

LookItMedä Interface, Sequential Search Engine

 Highlight any medical term in the eMedicine medical texts and a small window will pop up showing the following:

1.  The number of eMedicine chapters that refer to that term.
2.  Imagefinder search results showing available pictures, ECGs, or radiographs for that term.
3.  MEDLINE search results of medical articles containing that term.
4.  The Merriam Webster Dictionary definition of the term.
5.  Results from Gold Standard Multimedia for that term.

Example: highlighting the word allergic in the eMedicine medical texts brings up the following:
